Three days ago I received the Silhouettes‘ Fall Preview catalog in the mail. I’ve ordered from Silhouettes a few times over the years, but they are not my go-to for fat fashion due to two main reasons. One being price (I can find similar pieces elsewhere cheaper) and the second being the bulk of their clothing just doesn’t appeal to me. It’s still too much drape and print, if you know what I mean.
I still like to peruse the catalog just in case there is something that strikes my fancy, and there were some items I would definitely buy if I had a little bit more disposable income. So here’s what I liked:
I like this tuxedo blouse because you can wear it to the office paired with dress slacks or a skirt, but dress it down with jeans for a more casual look. I like the ruffles on the bodice and the hem, and I also appreciate that it’s tunic length, especially for those of us who are longwaisted. At $49, the price isn’t too outrageous and it goes up to a 3X.
In the fall and winter, I’m all about twinsets. This one is an open cardigan paired with a rhinestone collared shell and I love the deep eggplant color, which is fabulous in cooler months. The one thing I don’t like is that you have to pay $44 a piece for the shell and the cardigan. But for gals who might want to wear a different size between the two, I can see why they do it. But it would still be nice offer both items together for the same price. Again, this goes up to a 3X.
I’m a leopard print fan, and this button down cardigan is a powder blue leopard print which gives it a nice twist. Hopefully they’ll have my size by the time they mark it down, because I’m not ready to blow $69 on it! Goes up to a 3X.
You can’t go wrong with a basic black dress. This is their new wrap surplice dress. It’s classic, simple, and looks comfortable too. Prices range from $59-$64 and goes up to a 3X. Definitely for taller fatties.
They’re advertising the denim skirt here, but I like the whole outfit. The skirt is $49 and so is the black knit top. The skirt goes up to a size 26 and the shirt 3X. Again, it’s for the taller fatties, unless you pair it with some serious stiletto heels!
Silhouettes does offer certain selections in sizes 4-6X, but most of it is the standard long loose tunic variety:
Looks too much like a restaurant tablecloth fashioned into a blouse, and it reminds me of the grunge trend of the 90s, which I’m sure will be back within the next ten years. But I know a lot of you out there can make it look even better than how it’s presented here. If you like it, it’s yours for $44 and also available in a black/red plaid.
Not too bad, but it could have been better. I definitely think wearing boots with it makes a little more hip. This goes up to a size 38, at $74.
Silhouettes at least offers jeans in extended sizes. These Blue Couture relaxed jeans go up to 42 W at a price of $54 and comes in either indigo or stonewash. They also have trouser jeans and tapered leg jeans up to a size 42.
If you sign up to receive their emails, you’ll receive 15% off your next online order, and they’re offering 20% of $100, code S9PH1. If you see anything you like, head to their website and start stocking up on some fall fashion—summer won’t be around for much longer!

I like that black dress. I wonder if it would be possible to sew the “wrap” section closed to prevent wardrobe malfunction and to make the neckline a bit more modest. (Not everyone needs to see all my cleavage at once.) $64 isn’t bad for something so dressy either! WTG Silhouettes!

I would probably wear a lacy camisole underneath the dress. Wrap dresses are nice, but sometimes not friendly to those of us with serious racks o’ doom.
